01 · TL;DR

Two apps, one care journey

MedQuick is a two-sided telemedicine platform connecting U.S. patients to doctors for both in-person and on-call care. I designed the end-to-end experience for both apps — from doctor discovery to booking to live consultation — cutting time-to-book from days to under 5 minutes and lifting doctor consultation capacity by 25%.

02 · The problem

Getting care shouldn't be the hardest part of being sick

  • Long hold times just to book an appointment
  • No easy way to compare doctors — patients booked blind
  • Doctors juggling phone and fax to manage scheduling — a system built for a different era

MedQuick needed to solve this from both sides at once: a Patient App fast and trustworthy enough to replace the phone call, and a Doctor App simple enough that doctors would actually adopt it.

03 · The users

Two people, two very different jobs

The Patient

Wants care fast, and wants to trust who they're booking with before they commit.

The Doctor

Wants scheduling and patient communication in one place, without adding admin overhead to an already full day.

04 · Process

From interviews to phased rollout

01 · Discover

Interviewed patients and doctors to surface real friction: booking delays, lack of comparison tools, and fragmented scheduling tools on the doctor side.

02 · Define

Mapped the two personas and defined the core job each app had to do: fast, trustworthy booking for patients; simple schedule and message management for doctors.

03 · Design

Wireframed the critical path — search → doctor profile → booking → on-call visit — then designed a calm, accessible UI suited to a healthcare context on both apps.

04 · Test

Focused usability testing on the two highest-risk moments for drop-off: the booking flow and the on-call consultation flow. Iterated based on findings.

05 · Launch & Iterate

Phased rollout in one region with a core set of specialties first, expanding based on real usage data rather than assumptions.

05 · The solution

Patient App

MedQuick Patient App screens showing specialties, doctor profiles, booking, messaging, appointments, and video consultation

Patients explore doctors by specialty and region, compare ratings and reviews before booking, schedule in-person or virtual visits, track appointments, and get treated over secure video or audio — all without picking up the phone.

Doctor App

MedQuick Doctor App screens showing appointment requests, scheduling, patients, and profiles

Doctors see their daily schedule at a glance, message patients directly, manage availability, and start on-call consultations from the same place they manage everything else.

07 · Reflection

Why it worked

Solving for both sides of the marketplace at once — not just the patient experience — is what made adoption possible. A beautiful patient app means nothing if doctors won't use the tool behind it; a simple doctor tool means nothing if patients still can't find or trust a doctor fast enough to book.

What's next

Async messaging triage — routing patients to on-call vs. in-person care before they even reach the booking screen.
